58" x 18" x 9"
Big Bic is a 5 foot tall lamp and shelving system that visually mimics a classic Bic Lighter with the flame illuminated. The gear can be rotated as if igniting the lighter to turn the lamp on and off, the body panels can be taken out to create custom shelving of any height, and the entire piece can be disassembled.
All ideation, design, fabrication, and assembly work was done by me.
The goal with Big Bic was to create a piece of furniture that serves multiple purposes in the home (lighting and storage), is modular, can be disassembled and reassembled for easy transportation, and utilizes a nonconforming aesthetic to experiment and question what furniture should look like, all in one piece that is simple and recognizable.
